" Before leaving Ayodhya to the forest, Rama went to Kaushalya to take leave of her. Is it not the practice that a mother gives edibles to her son who is starting on a journey, so that he may eat them on the way? What is to be given to a son who is to be away for fourteen years? Kaushalya did not know what to give. After pondering deeply she said,
“O Raghava! There is nothing that I could do to protect you. There is only dharma. That dharma will protect you, which you have been preserving with courage, constancy and regularity. That is the only blessing that I can give.” If we preserve dharma, it preserves us in turn. The dharma that protected Rama is the dharma, which is the Law in God’s universal empire " 

Story - Ashtami and Navami

The story behind ASHTAMI AND NAVAMI !!! 

The devathaas ASHTAMI and NAVAMI for both thithis went to Sriman Narayana and requested that they be relieved of the bad name to them. So, Sriman Narayana considered their request and told them that at the time of incarnation as Rama and Krishna, he would be born on these thithis so that people celebrate the thithis.

Hence, only as a consolation to the devathaas of these thithis, Lord Sriman Narayana was born as Rama and Krishna on Navami and Ashtami respectively.

காதல் மன்னன் கைவீசி வாறான்
காத்திருந்த கண்களுக்கு விருந்தளிக்கப் போறான்
ஐந்தாறு சறுக்கல்கள் கண்டதால்
ஆட்டத்தை நிறுத்த முடியாது
ஐந்தாறு இலைகள் உதிர்ந்ததால்
ஆலமரத்தை அசைக்க முடியாது

ஆயிரம்பேர் எதிர்த்தாலும்
எடுத்த முடிவில் நிலைத்து நிற்பான்
ஆயிரங்கள் அள்ளி அள்ளி கொடுத்தாலும்
வளைந்து கொடுக்காமல் நிமிர்ந்து நிற்பான்

வெள்ளை சட்டைகளிடம் தஞ்சம் புகரும்
வேடிக்கை நிலைமை சிலருக்கு
விளம்பரம் தேடி பம்பரமாய் சுத்தும்
வாடிக்கை நிலைமை சிலருக்கு
விளம்பரமும் இன்றி வெல்லைசட்டையும் இன்றி
ஆதரவு தேடி வரும் இவனுக்கு


எடுத்துவைக்கும் அடுத்த அடி
என்ன என்று பாடட்டா
ராஜா ராணி ஜாக்கி இணையும்
உள்ளே வெளியே மங்காத்தா

மானாட்டம் மயிலாட்டம் அனைத்தையும் மிஞ்சி
சூதாட்டம் விறுவிறுப்பை அள்ளும்
